Validate International Bank Account Numbers β check format, checksum, and extract details
An IBAN consists of up to 34 alphanumeric characters. The first two letters are the ISO country code, followed by two check digits, and the Basic Bank Account Number (BBAN).
Supports all 75+ IBAN countries including all EU/EEA members, UK, Switzerland, UAE, Israel, Turkey, and more.
What is an IBAN?
International Bank Account Number β a standard format for identifying bank accounts internationally, used in SEPA payments and international wire transfers.
How is the checksum validated?
Using MOD-97. The IBAN is rearranged (move first 4 chars to end), letters converted to numbers (A=10, B=11...), then divided by 97. Remainder of 1 = valid.
